A Catocala specimen (dead) came to me via a worker at the Borg Warner factory in Port Talbot > Colin Gittins > Paul Parsons > Dave Gilmore (thanks to all in the chain). It looks like it is probably The Sweetheart Underwing (C. amatrix) which was presumably imported with a consignment from America. However there are over 100 species of Catocala in the US so further checks will need to be made.

In Bute Park this afternoon I stumbled across a fallen London Plane leaf with two Phyllonorycter platani mines. The mines were vacant although not split like the ones Dave found in October. The leaf was just inside the park, near the entrance opposite Boulevard de Nantes.
